APeX Ministries performed recently at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish and Elementary school in Petawawa and Bishop Smith Catholic High School in Pembroke.

Gene Monterastelli and Brad Farmer, of APeX Minstries, are two young men who travel across North America as evangelists. They use their unique presentation style they call “Christian Vaudeville” (which includes juggling, humor, sketch comedy, storytelling, audience participation, and personal testimony) to share the Gospel message in their own unique way. For the last seven years, they have performed their antics at diocesan, regional and national conferences, retreats, parish missions, schools and evenings with youth groups, families and/or full parish communities. For more information on APeX Minstries check out their website www.apexministries.com.

Brad and Gene recently performed their antics, humour and Christian message at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School in Petawawa. Some of the students enjoyed it so much that they also attended the evening performance at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish with the rest of the community. The evening performance proved to be just as fruitful with chuckles, smiles and even knee slapping laughter. Some participants commented that their cheeks were sore afterwards from so much laughing. The message and laughter was well received by all; students, staff and community, who have been encountering difficult times recently with the many deaths of military soldiers in the community who have been serving overseas. Fr. O'Malley, who hired the talented young men, felt the community needed a boost in morale and could use some laughter for a change. The community was very grateful for such an event.

In another pre-Christmas performance, Bishop Smith Catholic High in Pembroke rocked to the upbeat Catholic Christian music of the Messengers for Jesus, the music ministry from Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. As the opening act for Apex Ministries, they really set the mood for the students and staff as they entered the gym for the event.

The music was uplifting and exciting. The vibrant music really got the students pumped up and ready for the guest entertainers. APeX Ministries' Brad and Gene included several students and staff in their antics as they told funny stories, juggled various items, twirled plates and escaped from a straight jacket. They used their comedic stories to not only entertain but also as a vehicle to share their faith with the whole school community. The applause and laughter of the audience showed the appreciation of the talent of these two individuals.
