New staff at the Pembroke Diocese are: Donna Biggs, Secretary/Receptionist, Nov. 7, 2006; Jason Dedo, Office of Faith Formation, Sept. 1 2006; Lisa Ranger, Diocesan Finance Assistant, June 5 2006; Yvette Bourque, Director of Youth Ministry, Office of Christian Family Life, Ecclesia, Nov. 1, 2006.

Yvette Bourque

Yvette Bourque has been a resident of the Pembroke/Petawawa area for the past 20 years. She is married and has 3 children. She graduated from the Nursing Program at Algonquin College in Pembroke at the age of 20 and nursed for only two years in the area. She then spent the next 7 years working in the Financial Services sector.

At age 29 and after her third child, Yvette was searching for something different, something that would be more fulfilling and allow for more time with her family. After viewing a video presentation on the LIFE TEEN youth ministry program after mass one Sunday at her parish, Our Lady of Sorrows, a light bulb went off, so to speak, and she knew instantly that she wanted to volunteer to help with this new program.

After a year of volunteering as a core member, she was then asked to take over running the ministry, which she did so for the next 5 years. During that time she took both the Basic and Advance Youth Ministry Courses and for 5 consecutive summers attended the St. John Bosco Conference at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, where she obtained a certificate in Catechesis. Yvette says, "Since I began to finally do what I knew the Lord wanted me to do, my life has been filled with blessings, grace, miracles (or at least I think they are) and incredible direction from God. That's not to say that there hasn't been challenges, struggles and painful times where the Lord has stretched and molded me as needed. Nonetheless, He has always been there knowing what I need most and giving me the grace to do what He asks.

“This life of living by God's will and not my own has been the most fulfilling, surprising and down right exciting time of my life! I am very excited to serve at the Diocesan level now and pray that the Lord's will continue to be done in this Diocese."

Donna Biggs

Donna is a parishioner at St. Columbkille's Cathedral in Pembroke where she helps with Children's Liturgy. Donna has a Business Administration diploma from Algonquin College and previously worked in the banking sector. Donna has been married 17 years and has 3 children. Donna says "I am enjoying working at the Diocese tremendously."

Jason Dedo

Since September 2006, Jason has been employed by the Diocese as the Director of Diocesan Faith Formation and Leadership Development. His background is in Catholic Education. He has been employed as a teacher for the past 10 years, the last nine as a teacher with the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board in both the elementary and secondary panels.

From 1999-2006, he taught Religious Education at St. Joseph's Catholic High School in Renfrew and served as Program Leader for Religious Education for the last three of those years. In 2005, he completed a Master of Religious Education Degree from St. Paul University in Ottawa and is currently continuing studies at St. Paul's. Born and raised in Pembroke, Jason is married and has been blessed with three children. He and his family belong to St. Pius V Parish in Osceola.

Jason says, "I am very grateful to my predecessor, Sr. Marie McArdle, GSIC, who has been a wonderful mentor for me in this time of transition. The staff of the Chancery Office and the Cathedral is exceptional and they are a joy to work with. This new stage of my vocational journey has been very exciting and fulfilling and I am looking forward to serving the Diocese of Pembroke in the time ahead."

Lisa Ranger

Lisa Ranger relocated to Pembroke in May 2006. Originally from Gatineau/Hull, she studied office administration at a private college and took accounting at Cité Collégiale in Ottawa. Her experience comes from working for seven years as the sole office administrator for a company of ten employees in the automated access control industry. Lisa Ranger is grateful for the opportunity to work at the Diocese of Pembroke as the assistant to Paul J. Morris, Diocesan Finance Officer.
