Plus de 50 leaders religieux de partout au Canada ont publié une lettre ouverte à tous les Canadiens et Canadiennes en opposition au projet de loi C‑7, Loi modifiant le Code criminel (aide médicale à mourir). Ce message œcuménique et interreligieux est une réponse des leaders religieux à la mesure législative déposée par le gouvernement fédéral le 5 octobre 2020, qui vise à élargir les critères d’admissibilité à l’euthanasie et au suicide assisté (appelés par euphémisme « aide médicale à mourir) » en supprimant le critère de la « prévisibilité raisonnable de la mort naturelle » qui se trouve actuellement dans le Code criminel et en assouplissant certaines des « protections » actuelles qui permettent aux patients et patientes dont la mort est « raisonnablement prévisible » de renoncer au consentement final à recevoir l’euthanasie en rédigeant une directive à l’avance… Lire la suite.

Got Life Questions? R.C.I.A. might just be for you!

Starting a new journey with R.C.I.A. begins Tuesday, October 20th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Columbkille Cathedral in the Parish Hall. All are welcome. R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a journey for anyone who is interested in becoming a Catholic, anyone wanting to grow in their Catholic faith, and also journey with others sharing the Catholic faith and growing in the life as a Christian. It is also for someone who has never been baptized, or maybe has been baptized in another Christian faith, and wishes to know more about the Catholic faith. Maybe you have been baptized and have not received the other Sacraments for your life’s mission. If any of these scenarios apply to you, we would love to help in your spiritual journey. Catechists Formation Day

A Catechists formation day open to all will be held on Saturday, November 7th at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 284 Trafalgar Road, Pembroke. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Formation will continue from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This will be a great day with a visit from Bishop Guy Desrochers. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please inform us you have any food allergies. There is no registration fee, but registration is necessary. Free Resource for Families/Parishes

SUMMIT– by LIFETEEN – is a weekly, lectionary based, small group or family-based program to help keep your young family members engaged in their faith at a time when social gathering is not encouraged. It is FREE! The resource is for youth grade 9-12, but can easily be adapted for grades 6-8. This excellent resource centers around the Sunday readings and encourages scripture reading, reflection and discussion. Each week there is also a video on the LIFETEEN YouTube video channel that relates to the Sunday readings. Online Zoom Study Courses

Online Zoom Study Courses offered by Fr. Tim Moyle of the Catholic Parishes of the Upper Pontiac on two books: Tuesday evenings on ‘Jesus of Nazareth’ (vol.1) by Pope Benedict XVI, and Thursday evenings on ‘The Screwtape Letters’ by C.S. CWL Parish Supper

Annually, the Catholic Women’s League of Our Lady of Fatima Parish host a Spaghetti Supper on the first Sunday of November. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, in lieu of our usual sit down dinner, we will host a pick up event. All sales will be pre-ordered meals. Date: Sunday, November 1st – Pick-up times: Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – Place: Our Lady of Fatima Church Parking Lot, Renfrew. Menu: Spaghetti with meat sauce, toss salad, bread and dessert. Cost: $12 for Adults, $8 for children. Holy Mass – Extraordinary Form

Holy Mass in the extraordinary form is offered at St Columbkille Cathedral on the first Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. These Latin Masses are in the form of the Liturgy as it was celebrated at the time of the Second Vatican Council—the same form which nourished the faith of many of our ancestors.
