Inauguration du ministère épiscopal
L’inauguration du ministère de Mgr Desrochers comme évêque de Pembroke aura lieu le 3 juillet. En raison des restrictions imposées par la COVID-19, il s’agira d’une petite cérémonie privée, à laquelle ne participeront peut-être qu’une poignée de personnes. Elle sera enregistrée pour être diffusée en ligne. Une célébration liturgique publique sera prévue à une date ultérieure, lorsqu’il sera possible de rassembler un grand nombre de personnes.

Nombre de gens ont demandé quand les églises rouvriront et dans quelles circonstances. Bien que les gouvernements de l’Ontario et du Québec n’aient pas encore fourni d’informations sur la durée des restrictions des rassemblements publics, notre diocèse a déjà entamé un processus de consultation et d’établissement d’un protocole pour une réouverture éventuelle et progressive de nos églises et la restauration de la célébration publique de la messe et des sacrements lorsque cela sera à nouveau autorisé. L’évêque, de concert avec les évêques de l’Ontario et du Québec, émettra des directives une fois que celles-ci auront été vérifiées par les autorités sanitaires.

La CECC a signé une lettre adressée au Premier ministre Trudeau au sujet de la recherche d’un vaccin pour la COVID-19 – jeudi, mai 21 2020
Une lettre a été envoyée au Très honorable Justin Trudeau, premier ministre du Canada, et à Mme Patty Hajdu, ministre de la Santé, reconnaissant l’engagement financier généreux du gouvernement envers le développement d’un vaccin contre la COVID-19. La lettre exhorte également le gouvernement fédéral à veiller à ce que le développement de ces vaccins ne pose pas de dilemme éthique aux Canadiennes et de Canadiens et souligne la distinction entre les vaccins développés à partir de lignées cellulaires embryonnaires provenant d’avortements (qui sont inacceptables pour plusieurs) et ceux développés sans recourir à de telles sources. Pope Francis has approved the promulgation of a decree recognizing a miracle attributed to the intercession of the founder of the Knights of Columbus, Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney
The pope’s action means that Fr. McGivney can be declared “Blessed,” the step just prior to sainthood. Fr. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882, for the purpose of uniting Catholic families in fraternal charity and ensuring their financial protection through the Order’s insurance program.
