Nomination d’un évêque pour le diocèse de Pembroke – Mercredi, 6 mai 2020
Sa Sainteté le pape François a nommé Mgr Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R., évêque du diocèse de Pembroke. Au moment de sa nomination, Mgr Desrochers était évêque auxiliaire au diocèse d’Alexandria-Cornwall. Mgr Desrochers assume la direction pastorale du diocèse de Pembroke en relève à Mgr Michael Mulhall, qui est actuellement administrateur apostolique du diocèse en même temps qu’archevêque de Kingston. Nombre de gens ont demandé quand les églises rouvriront et dans quelles circonstances. Bien que les gouvernements de l’Ontario et du Québec n’aient pas encore fourni d’informations sur la durée des restrictions des rassemblements publics, notre diocèse a déjà entamé un processus de consultation et d’établissement d’un protocole pour une réouverture éventuelle et progressive de nos églises et la restauration de la célébration publique de la messe et des sacrements lorsque cela sera à nouveau autorisé. L’évêque, de concert avec les évêques de l’Ontario et du Québec, émettra des directives une fois que celles-ci auront été vérifiées par les autorités sanitaires.

Euthanasia – Article from the World Medical Journal
The April 2020 issue of the World Medical Journal (Vol. 66, No. 2), pages 28-37, includes an extensive article (in English only) on experiences by Canadian physicians with euthanasia and assisted suicide entitled « The ‘Normalization’ of Euthanasia in Canada: The Cautionary Tale continues. » Its authors are three Canadian physicians: Dr. Leonie Herx (Chair, Division of Palliative Medicine, Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, Queen’s University, Kingston), Dr. Margaret Cottle (Assistant Professor, Division of Palliative Care, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia, Vancouver), and Dr. John F. Scott (Associate Professor, Division of Palliative Care, Department of Medicine, University of Ottawa).
