Pour le repos de l’âme de Margaret McFarlane, la mère du feu diacre Michael McFarlane, qui est décédé le samedi 24 octobre 2020 à l’âge de 98 ans. Portez Mme McFarlane et sa famille  dans votre prière.

Dates importantes à retenir:

  • Le dimanche 1er novembre – Tous les saints.
  • Le lundi 2 novembre – Commémoration de tous les fidèles défunts.
  • Le samedi soir/le dimanche matin, les 31 octobre et 1 novembre – Retour à l’heure normale en reculant nos montres et nos horloges d’une heure.

La CECC publie une déclaration en réponse au second dépôt du projet de loi C-7, Loi modifiant le Code criminel (aide médicale à mourir)

Avec l’approbation du Bureau de direction, Mgr Richard Gagnon, archevêque de Winnipeg et président de la Conférence des évêques catholiques du Canada (CECC), a signé une déclaration au nom des évêques du Canada exprimant leur opposition au second dépôt du projet de loi C-7, Loi modifiant le Code criminel (aide médicale à mourir), présenté de nouveau par le gouvernement fédéral le 5 octobre 2020. Nomination d’un Administrateur apostolique pour l’éparchie des Saints Cyrille et Méthode pour les fidèles slovaques du rite byzantin au Canada

Le mardi 20 octobre 2020, la Congrégation pour les Églises orientales a annoncé que le pape François avait accepté la démission de Mgr Marian Andrej Pacák, C.Ss.R., de la gouvernance pastorale de l’éparchie des Saints Cyrille et Méthode pour les fidèles slovaques du rite byzantin au Canada. Le Saint-Père a nommé Mgr Kurt R. Burnette, évêque éparchial de l’éparchie byzantin-ruthénien de Passaic (États-Unis) comme administrateur apostolique sede vacante de la même circonscription. Nomination d’un évêque pour le diocèse de Sault Ste-Marie – jeudi le 20 octobre 2020

Sa Sainteté le pape François a nommé Mgr Thomas Dowd, évêque du diocèse de Sault Ste-Marie. Au moment de sa nomination, Mgr Dowd était évêque auxiliaire à l’archidiocèse de Montréal. Mgr Dowd assumera la gouvernance pastorale du diocèse actuellement sous la responsabilité de Mgr Jean-Paul É. Jolicoeur, P.H., qui en est l’administrateur diocésain depuis la nomination de Mgr Marcel Damphousse en tant qu’archevêque coadjuteur de l’archidiocèse d’Ottawa-Cornwall le 6 mai 2020. Journée de formation

Une journée de formation pour les catéchètes des paroisses francophones ou bilingues du diocèse, samedi le 21 novembre de 9h à 13h à la salle Ste-Croix, 500 rue Isabella, Pembroke. Dîner et rafraîchissements sont inclus. Le conférencier de la journée sera Mgr Guy Desrochers. Cette journée s’adresse aux catéchètes, aux personnes qui désirent le devenir, aux curés, aux diacres, et autres personnes intéressées. Catechists Formation Day

A Catechists formation day open to all will be held on Saturday, November 7th at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 284 Trafalgar Road, Pembroke. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Formation will continue from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This will be a great day with a visit from Bishop Guy Desrochers. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please inform us you have any food allergies. There is no registration fee, but registration is necessary. Next gathering is Thursday, November 19th at St. Columbkille Cathedral for session #2 of NO GREATER LOVE – A biblical walk through Christ’s Passion. Holy Hour from 6-7 p.m. (optional). Session from 7-8:30 p.m.in the parish hall.  Come join us and bring a friend.

Carlo Acutis

A 15 year old Italian boy who died of leukemia in 2006 is on the road to Sainthood. On October 10th this amazing teenager was beatified at a ceremony in the town of Assisi and moved one step closer to sainthood. Check out this amazing project he created of all the reported Eucharistic Miracles around the world. Our Lady of the Rosary Family Catechism

Our Lady of the Rosary Family Catechism is an online video catechism course which provides children and their families with the unique opportunity to learn the timeless truths of the Catholic Faith according to the classic Baltimore Catechism. Online Zoom Study Courses

Online Zoom Study Courses offered by Fr. Tim Moyle of the Catholic Parishes of the Upper Pontiac on two books: Tuesday evenings on ‘Jesus of Nazareth’ (vol.1) by Pope Benedict XVI, and Thursday evenings on ‘The Screwtape Letters’ by C.S. Lewis. Both courses run from 7-8 pm. If you are interested in participating, please email Fr. Tim at frtimmoylepp@gmail.com and he will send you a link with a Zoom invitation to join the discussion. The ‘Jesus of Nazareth’ course has already begun. The ‘Screwtape Letters’ will begin on Thursday 29 October 2020. Everyone is welcome to participate.

CWL Parish Supper

Annually, the Catholic Women’s League of Our Lady of Fatima Parish host a Spaghetti Supper on the first Sunday of November. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, in lieu of our usual sit down dinner, we will host a pick up event. All sales will be pre-ordered meals. Date: Sunday, November 1st – Pick-up times: Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – Place: Our Lady of Fatima Church Parking Lot, Renfrew. Menu: Spaghetti with meat sauce, toss salad, bread and dessert. Cost: $12 for Adults, $8 for children. Holy Mass – Extraordinary Form

Holy Mass in the extraordinary form is offered at St Columbkille Cathedral on the first Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. These Latin Masses are in the form of the Liturgy as it was celebrated at the time of the Second Vatican Council—the same form which nourished the faith of many of our ancestors. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, please note that the Parish Supper at St. Matthew the Apostle Parish Supper, Madawaska, scheduled for Sunday, November 1st will not be held this year.
