For the repose of the soul of Mrs. Magdalen Helen “Margaret” McFarlane, mother of our deceased brother Deacon Michael McFarlane. Mrs. McFarlane passed away on Saturday, October 24th in her 99th year. Please also pray for the consolation of all the family members at this time.

CCCB Releases Statement in Response to the Re-tabling of Bill C-7, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (medical assistance in dying)

With the approval of the Executive Committee, the Most Reverend Richard Gagnon, Archbishop of Winnipeg and President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), signed a statement on behalf of the Bishops of Canada expressing their opposition to the re-tabling of Bill C-7, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (medically assisted dying), re-introduced by the federal government on October 5, 2020. Apostolic Administrator Appointed for the Eparchy of Saints Cyril and Methodius for Slovaks of the Byzantine rite in Canada

On Tuesday 20 October 2020, the Congregation for Eastern Churches announced that Pope Francis had accepted the resignation of the Most Reverend Marian Andrej Pacák, C.Ss.R., from the pastoral governance of the Eparchy of Saints Cyril and Methodius for Slovaks of the Byzantine rite in Canada. The Holy Father appointed the Most Reverend Kurt R. Burnette, Eparchial Bishop of the Byzantine-Rutherian Eparchy of Passaic (USA) as the Apostolic Administrator sede vacante of the same circumscription. Read more…

Bishop Appointed for the Diocese of Sault Ste-Marie – Thursday, October 22, 2020

His Holiness Pope Francis appointed the Most Reverend Thomas Dowd Bishop of the Diocese of Sault Ste-Marie. At the time of his appointment, Bishop Dowd was serving as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Montréal. Bishop Dowd will assume the pastoral governance of the Diocese currently under the care of Monsignor Jean-Paul É. Jolicoeur, H.P., who has been its Diocesan Administrator following the appointment of the Most Reverend Marcel Damphousse as Coadjutor Archbishop for the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall 6 May 2020. FAITH FORMATION

Catechists Formation Day

A Catechists formation day open to all will be held on Saturday, November 7th at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 284 Trafalgar Road, Pembroke. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Formation will continue from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This will be a great day with a visit from Bishop Guy Desrochers. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please inform us you have any food allergies. There is no registration fee, but registration is necessary. Une journée de formation pour les catéchètes des paroisses francophones ou bilingues du diocèse, samedi le 21 novembre de 9h à 13h à la salle Ste-Croix, 500 rue Isabella, Pembroke. Dîner et rafraîchissements sont inclus. Le conférencier de la journée sera Mgr Guy Desrochers. Cette journée s’adresse aux catéchètes, aux personnes qui désirent le devenir, aux curés, aux diacres, et autres personnes intéressées. Next gathering is Thursday, November 19th at St. Columbkille Cathedral for session #2 of NO GREATER LOVE – A biblical walk through Christ’s Passion. Holy Hour from 6-7 p.m. (optional). Session from 7-8:30 p.m.in the parish hall.  Come join us and bring a friend.

Carlo Acutis

A 15 year old Italian boy who died of leukemia in 2006 is on the road to Sainthood. On October 10th this amazing teenager was beatified at a ceremony in the town of Assisi and moved one step closer to sainthood. Check out this amazing project he created of all the reported Eucharistic Miracles around the world. Our Lady of the Rosary Family Catechism

Our Lady of the Rosary Family Catechism is an online video catechism course which provides children and their families with the unique opportunity to learn the timeless truths of the Catholic Faith according to the classic Baltimore Catechism. PARISH EVENTS

Online Zoom Study Courses

Online Zoom Study Courses offered by Fr. Tim Moyle of the Catholic Parishes of the Upper Pontiac on two books: Tuesday evenings on ‘Jesus of Nazareth’ (vol.1) by Pope Benedict XVI, and Thursday evenings on ‘The Screwtape Letters’ by C.S. Lewis. Both courses run from 7-8 pm. If you are interested in participating, please email Fr. Tim and he will send you a link with a Zoom invitation to join the discussion. The ‘Jesus of Nazareth’ course has already begun. The ‘Screwtape Letters’ will begin on Thursday 29 October 2020. Everyone is welcome to participate.

CWL Parish Supper

Annually, the Catholic Women’s League of Our Lady of Fatima Parish host a Spaghetti Supper on the first Sunday of November. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, in lieu of our usual sit down dinner, we will host a pick up event. All sales will be pre-ordered meals. Date: Sunday, November 1st – Pick-up times: Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – Place: Our Lady of Fatima Church Parking Lot, Renfrew. Menu: Spaghetti with meat sauce, toss salad, bread and dessert. Cost: $12 for Adults, $8 for children. Holy Mass – Extraordinary Form

Holy Mass in the extraordinary form is offered at St Columbkille Cathedral on the first Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. These Latin Masses are in the form of the Liturgy as it was celebrated at the time of the Second Vatican Council—the same form which nourished the faith of many of our ancestors. English translations of the entire Mass are provided. Next Mass – November 7th.

St. Matthew the Apostle Parish Supper Cancelled

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, please note that the Parish Supper at St. Matthew the Apostle Parish Supper, Madawaska, scheduled for Sunday, November 1st will not be held this year.
