E.M.M.M.: Emmaus Monthly Morning Meet-ups A Young Adult Gathering Saturday, December 5, 2026 · 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. · St. James the Less, Eganville “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32) A monthly Saturday morning for young adults, shaped by the road to Emmaus: friends walking together, the Scriptures opened, and Christ met in the breaking of the bread. This Month Scripture Session: The Biblical Role of Animals The serpent, the ram, the dove, the lamb. In Scripture, animals are never just background, and every one of them is telling you something. In this first week of Advent, we’ll look at the ox and the donkey at the manger, the wolf lying down with the lamb, and the Lamb who is coming. Then bring your questions. Talk 1: Technology: Instant: Can You Still Wait? Next-day delivery, instant replies, endless scrolling. Our screens have trained us never to wait for anything. Advent is the Church’s season of waiting, and it may be exactly what we’ve forgotten how to do. Talk 2: Discernment: Your Desires Aren’t the Enemy Last month we learned to recognize God’s voice. This month we look at one of the places He speaks most: your deepest desires. God’s will isn’t hidden in the opposite of what you want. Learn how to tell your deepest desires from your passing wants, and what they reveal about your calling. Book Club We continue C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters with Letters 5–8, including Screwtape’s “law of undulation,” the devil’s strategy for your spiritual highs and lows. If you’re new, read Letters 1–8 and you’re caught up. Also This Morning Adoration and confession, Mass, and lunch together.
