E.M.M.M.: Emmaus Monthly Morning Meet-ups A Young Adult Gathering Saturday, January 2, 2027 · 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. · St. James the Less, Eganville “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32) A monthly Saturday morning for young adults, shaped by the road to Emmaus: friends walking together, the Scriptures opened, and Christ met in the breaking of the bread. This Month Scripture Session: The Geography of Death, or Which Way to Heaven? East of Eden. Down to Egypt. Up to Jerusalem. In Scripture, direction is never just direction, and every step tells you whether someone is moving toward death or toward life. On the eve of Epiphany, we’ll follow the Magi from the East and ask which way leads home. Then bring your questions. Talk 1: Technology: Reset: Taking Back Your Attention A new year and a clean slate. What has your screen been doing to your mind, your habits, and your ability to focus? We’ll look at how to reclaim your attention for the things, and the people, that matter most. Talk 2: Discernment: How to Make a Decision You Won’t Regret We’ve learned to get quiet, to recognize God’s voice, and to trust our deepest desires. Now comes the hard part: actually choosing. The Church has centuries of wisdom on how to make a good decision, big or small, and how to know when you’re ready to make it. Book Club We continue C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters with Letters 9–12, including Screwtape’s famous warning about the gradual road to hell, which makes a fitting companion to this month’s Scripture session. If you’re new, read Letters 1–12 and you’re caught up. Also This Morning Adoration and confession, Mass, and lunch together.
