E.M.M.M.: Emmaus Monthly Morning Meet-ups A Young Adult Gathering Saturday, February 6, 2027 · 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. · St. James the Less, Eganville “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32) A monthly Saturday morning for young adults, shaped by the road to Emmaus: friends walking together, the Scriptures opened, and Christ met in the breaking of the bread. This Month Scripture Session: Clothing and the Hold of Death Fig leaves in Eden. A coat dipped in blood. Sackcloth and ashes. Grave clothes left folded in an empty tomb. In Scripture, clothing reveals how tightly death holds you, and when it finally lets go. Four days before Ash Wednesday, learn what the ashes are really saying. Then bring your questions. Talk 1: Technology: Fast from the Feed: Planning a Digital Lent Lent begins Wednesday. What if this year’s fast included your phone? We’ll look at what a digital fast actually looks like, why it works, and how to build one you’ll keep past the first week. Talk 2: Discernment: Let Go: The Freedom to Say Yes to God Last month we learned how to make a good decision. But you can’t choose freely while you’re clinging to something. Before Lent begins, we’ll look at what you’re holding onto, and why letting go is the freedom that makes every real “yes” possible. Book Club We continue C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters with Letters 13–16, including Screwtape’s alarm when the patient repents and returns to God, which is good reading on the eve of Lent. If you’re new, read Letters 1–16 and you’re caught up. Also This Morning Adoration and confession, Mass, and lunch together.
