E.M.M.M.: Emmaus Monthly Morning Meet-ups A Young Adult Gathering Saturday, April 3, 2027 · 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. · St. James the Less, Eganville “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32) A monthly Saturday morning for young adults, shaped by the road to Emmaus: friends walking together, the Scriptures opened, and Christ met in the breaking of the bread. This Month Scripture Session: You Are Barabbas His name means “son of the father.” He was guilty, and he walked free while the innocent Son of the Father took his place. From Isaac and the ram to the two goats of the Day of Atonement, Scripture keeps telling the same story, and you are in it. On the eve of Divine Mercy Sunday, discover who Barabbas really is. Then bring your questions. Talk 1: Technology: The Crowd Is Always Shouting: Mercy in the Age of Outrage The crowd outside Pilate’s palace didn’t need a screen to form a mob, but ours makes it easier. Pile-ons, call-outs, comment wars. We’ll look at what online outrage does to our souls and what it means to be people of mercy in a world that shouts “crucify.” Talk 2: Discernment: Jesus, I Trust in You: Discerning Without Guarantees Last month we named the fears that hold us back. This month we look at their answer: trust. God rarely shows us the whole road before we take the first step. On the eve of Divine Mercy Sunday, we’ll learn what it means to move forward without a guarantee. Book Club We continue C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters with Letters 21–24, including Screwtape’s scheme to convince the patient that his time belongs to him. If you’re new, read Letters 1–24 and you’re caught up.
