This Month Scripture Session: A Tree Is Never Just a Tree The tree of life and the tree of knowledge. Abraham under the oaks of Mamre. Zacchaeus up a sycamore. A fig tree with no fruit. In Scripture, a tree is never just a tree, and every one of them points to the tree on Calvary. In the heart of Lent, learn to see the cross hiding in plain sight from Genesis to Revelation. Then bring your questions. Talk 1: Technology: Connected but Alone: Real Friendship in a Digital World Hundreds of followers, and no one to call. Our screens promised connection but often leave us lonelier than ever. We’ll look at what real friendship is, why it’s so hard to find as an adult, and how to build it. Talk 2: Discernment: Afraid to Say Yes: Fear and Your Vocation Last month we talked about letting go. But often what holds us back isn’t something we’re clinging to. It’s fear: of getting it wrong, of missing out, of what God might ask. We’ll name the fears that stall every vocation and learn why “Be not afraid” is the most repeated command in Scripture. Book Club We continue C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters with Letters 17–20, including Screwtape on the “gluttony of delicacy,” a very Lenten read. If you’re new, read Letters 1–20 and you’re caught up. Also This Morning Adoration and confession, Mass, and lunch together.
