E.M.M.M.: Emmaus Monthly Morning Meet-ups A Young Adult Gathering Saturday, May 1, 2027 · 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. · St. James the Less, Eganville “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32) A monthly Saturday morning for young adults, shaped by the road to Emmaus: friends walking together, the Scriptures opened, and Christ met in the breaking of the bread. This Month Scripture Session: Numbers Are Story Anchors Three days. Seven days of creation. Twelve tribes, twelve apostles. Forty days in the desert. In Scripture, numbers aren’t math. They’re anchors that tie one story to another across thousands of years. In the Easter season, as the Church counts forty days to the Ascension and fifty to Pentecost, learn to read the numbers and watch the Bible connect itself. Then bring your questions. Talk 1: Technology: Always On: Work, Rest, and the Sabbath Your Phone Stole Work email at dinner, notifications at midnight, never truly off the clock. On the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, we’ll look at how our devices blurred the line between work and rest, and why God built a day of rest into creation itself. Talk 2: Discernment: You Can’t Discern Alone The disciples on the road to Emmaus walked together, and that’s no accident. God rarely reveals a vocation to someone in isolation. We’ll look at the role of spiritual direction, mentors, and friends in discernment, and how to find the people who can walk the road with you. Book Club We continue C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters with Letters 25–28, including Screwtape’s strategy of “Christianity And,” keeping the patient chasing the next new thing. If you’re new, read Letters 1–28 and you’re caught up. Also This Morning Adoration and confession, Mass, and lunch together.
