Prayers for Pope Leo XIV – Oct. 14, 2026

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As many of you are already aware, yesterday Pope Leo was admitted to hospital to remove a nodule from his lung. The tissue has already been confirmed as lung adenocarcinoma. Further tests and information will probably be communicated by the Vatican in the next few days, but we hope that the early detection and operation will result in a very positive prognosis for the complete recovery of the Holy Father.

During these days of recovery, I urge us all to remember Pope Leo in our personal prayers, and to include him especially in the intentions at the celebration of the Eucharist. We entrust him into the hands of God through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother and St. Joseph.

We invite the faithful to join in the prayer offered by the Holy Father himself in his message for the World Day of Prayer for the Sick:

Sweet Mother, do not part from me.
Turn not your eyes away from me.
Walk with me at every moment
and never leave me alone.
You who always protect me
as a true Mother,
obtain for me the blessing of the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit.

In Christ our Redeemer,

+ Michael Brehl, C.Ss.R.
