The Feast of the Baptism of Jesus, which we celebrated last Sunday, brings the Christmas cycle to a close. We are now beginning the cycle of “Ordinary Time”. Let me elaborate a little on the deeper meaning of the feast we just celebrated last Sunday, for it is not simply the end of one cycle, but the mystical introduction of the next cycle. (Read more…)

Ontario Restrictions
Premier Doug Ford announced a number of COVID-related restrictions. Please note the following for the Diocesan and parish offices in Ontario:
- Places of worship may open at 50% capacity.
- Indoor meetings are closed. Meetings may take place via Zoom or some other platform, if possible.
- In parish offices and at the chancery, provisions are to be made for employees to work from home, unless the nature of their work requires their presence on site.
These measures will be in effect at least until January 26.
Let us pray for all those who have been affected by COVID-19, whether in terms or their physical or mental health.

The Most Reverend Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R., announces the following pastoral appointment:
On December 31, 2021 Father Peter Do concluded his ministry at St. Pierre, Fort Coulonge, St Charles Borromeo, Otter Lake, St Elizabeth, Vinton and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Waltham. As of January 1, 2022 Father Do will be in residence at the rectory of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Pembroke. While Father Do is in residence in Pembroke, he will be assigned various ministerial duties by the Bishop and will also be available for Mass coverage in parishes.

Marriage Preparation Program
The Winter Diocesan Marriage Preparation Program is coming up on Saturday, February 5th and Saturday, February 19th via Zoom. Deadline to register is January 21st. Registration is available online at Marriage & Family – Diocese of Pembroke (pembrokediocese.com), or a form can be obtained from any parish and mailed in. Due to the recent health restrictions, this ministry will be on hold until further notice.
Separated and Divorced Catholics
By My Side Ministry for separated and divorced Catholics will be held virtually via zoom this spring. This is a program offering spiritual friendship and healing for separated and divorced Catholics. The program is designed to help individuals navigate through the stress of separation and divorce from a Catholic faith exploration perspective. Classes begin March 26, 2022, 2 hours/ week for both ladies and men separately and runs for 6 weeks. The cost is $40. This ministry has been running every spring for the past 7 years and have had over 120 amazing women and men participate. Participants often mention how they gain a greater perspective on how the treasures and wisdom of our Catholic faith can give them a sense of renewed hope for their future.

Latin Mass
A Latin Mass according to the Roman Missal of 1962 is offered at St. Columbkille Cathedral at 9 a.m. on February 5th. This is basically the same form of the Liturgy which nourished the faith of many Catholics for centuries. English translations of the entire Mass are provided.
