Installation as Bishop of Pembroke:

Bishop Guy Desrochers will be installed as Bishop of Pembroke on July 3rd. On account of the restrictions necessitated by COVID-19, this will be a small, private ceremony. It will be recorded for broadcast online. A public liturgical celebration will be planned for a later date, when it will be possible to gather a large number of people.

The Establishment of the New Archdiocese Ottawa-Cornwall, Archbishop Prendergast Takes Possession of a New Coadjutor Archbishop – Wednesday, June 17, 2020

On 6 May 2020, the Holy Father announced the creation of a new ecclesiastical circumscription, the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall, by amalgamating the former Archdiocese of Ottawa with the former Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, please note that the Annual Old Fashioned “Roaring 20s” Parish Picnic at St. Lawrence O’Toole Parish, Barry’s Bay, scheduled for Sunday, July 12th will not be held this year.

Annual Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Saint Ann, Cormac CANCELLED!

Please note that the Annual Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Saint Ann in Cormac on Sunday, July 26th, and the Triduum in the week preceding will not be held this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

St. Martin of Tours Parish Supper CANCELLED!

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, please note that the Annual Turkey, Ham & Baked Bean Supper at St. Martin of Tours Parish, Whitney, scheduled for Sunday, August 2nd will not be held this year.


OTHER CATHOLIC EVENTS

Pope Francis has approved the promulgation of a decree recognizing a miracle attributed to the intercession of the founder of the Knights of Columbus, Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney.

The pope’s action means that Fr. McGivney can be declared “Blessed,” the step just prior to sainthood. Fr. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882, for the purpose of uniting Catholic families in fraternal charity and ensuring their financial protection through the Order’s insurance program. Today, the Knights of Columbus is a worldwide charitable organization and one of the strongest and most ethical insurers in North America, playing a pivotal role in the Catholic Church by means of its pro-life and evangelization efforts, and has benefited the lives of many throughout the Diocese of Pembroke. PILGRIMAGES

Upcoming Pilgrimage to Our Lady of the Cape and to the Shrine of Saint Anne

The 146th annual pilgrimage to Our Lady of the Cape and to the Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupré will not happen on August 8-9, 2020.  The pilgrimage has now been rescheduled for September 12-13 or October 17-18, 2020.  Pilgrims who have already prepaid for their pilgrimage will be refunded if they cannot be present to either one of these projected dates. The projected dates will depend on the federal, provincial, territorial and public Health governments’ decisions.  Our Lady of the Cape, pray for us. Good Saint Anne, pray for us.
