New Eparchial Bishop Appointed for the Mar Addai Chaldean Catholic Eparchy of Canada – Monday, September 13, 2021

On Saturday 11 September 2021, His Holiness Pope Francis accepted the resignation of the Most Reverend Bawai Soro from the pastoral governance of the Mar Addai Chaldean Catholic Eparchy of Canada, having served as its Eparchial Bishop for the past four years. At the same time, the Holy Father appointed the Most Reverend Robert Saeed Jarjis as the new Eparchial Bishop of the same ecclesiastical circumscription. (Read more…)

Preparatory Document published for 2023 Synod on Synodality – Friday, September 10, 2021

The General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops issued the preparatory document for the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops which will take place during the month of October 2023 on the theme “For a Synodal Church: Communication, Participation and Mission”. The Vademecum (or handbook) was likewise published to guide the listening and discernment during the consultation phase in local churches.

Marriage Preparation Program

The Fall Diocesan Marriage Preparation Program is coming up on Saturday, October 2nd and Saturday, October 23rd via Zoom. Deadline to register is September 17th. Diocesan Young Adult Ministry

Thursday, September 16th, from 6-8 p.m. at St. Columbkille Cathedral, Pembroke (parish hall). Guest speaker, Michael Do, will be speaking on “Reigniting Our Spiritual Lives as Catholics with Evangelical Apologetics.” Please join us for this amazing topic that will help you understand evangelization, its joys and challenges, best practices and how to prepare yourself to evangelize. Michael is someone who has been involved in the trenches of evangelization and is a young adult himself. Bring a friend! All are welcome, no matter the age, for this event. First Step Option’s Baby Bottle Campaign 2021

Due to continued uncertainties related to COVID, the Baby Bottle Campaign will be run virtually again this year from Sunday, September 12th to Sunday, October 3rd. Campaign Life Coalition Presents – “Life Chain”

Life Chain is a peaceful pro-life witness that takes place annually across North America. This year’s local Life Chain will be held in Pembroke at the corner of Christie Street and Pembroke St. West on Sunday, October 3rd from 2-3 p.m. COVID-19 protocols will be followed. PARISH EVENTS

St. Patrick Parish Take Out Supper and Bazaar

St. Patrick Parish takeout supper and bazaar will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2021.  Holy Mass will be offered at the parish church at noon.  There will be a bake tent and yard sale held in the church yard and in the school hall, located beside the church, from 1-4 p.m.  The take out meal – Shepherd’s Pie with a great selection of desserts, salads and rolls for only $15.00 (children under 12 only $10.00) – will be held at the DACA Center and will run from 2-6 p.m.  For further information or to reserve a meal (strongly advised prior to September 19th) kindly contact Betty at 613 649-2668 or Gail at 613 649-2236.  All the regular COVID-19 precautions will be observed.  All are welcome and we hope to see you at “The Mountain”!

Latin Mass

A Latin Mass according to the Roman Missal of 1962 is offered at St. Columbkille Cathedral at 9 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month. This is basically the same form of the Liturgy which nourished the faith of many Catholics for centuries. English translations of the entire Mass are provided. Next Latin Mass – October 2nd.
